Bridging the Gap Program coordinator Karine Côté gives us an update on some of the great work that’s happening in Quebec:
Madeline Bergeron School Visit:
On May 31st, Quebec’s Bridging the Gap program coordinator visited the Madeline Bergeron School to participate in the “Choose to Win” program: a new initiative that promotes healthy lifestyles among young people living with a disability. More than thirty young people have been introduced to wheelchair basketball because of this activity. To ensure that all participants got the most out of their experience, players from the Quebec Bulldogs team joined the program to pass on their knowledge of the sport.
Through a partnership with the Shield Joilette rehabilitation center, four clients have been able to try various adapted sports as part of their rehabilitation program. Taking advantage of the large parking lot at their disposal by the kinesiologist centre, the particpants tried sledge hockey, hand cycling and wheelchair tennis. All were very popular!
