The future of wheelchair basketball in Manitoba is about to get a lot brighter thanks to a Wheelchair Basketball Clinic held from Feb. 1st to 2nd in Winnipeg. Fifteen participants with a wide range of disabilities learned the basics of the sport thanks to Coach Bill Johnson (head coach of the Canadian women’s national team) and some learning facilitators from Wheelchair Basketball Canada. Participants learned some new skills, scrimmaged and had fun socializing with other athletes.
The clinic is just one way that Manitoba Wheelchair Sports is recruiting and training the next generation of wheelchair basketball players in the province.
