Seven Bridging the Gap BC Athletes Have Personal Bests at the Dogwood Track and Field Meet

Congratulations to all of the BCWSA athletes who competed at the Dogwood Track and Field Meet in Victoria this weekend. All of the athletes got involved in para-throws thanks to the Bridging the Gap program! Seven of nine athletes had personal bests in one or more events. Eddy Solla even set the Canadian F34 record in javelin.

The biggest showing, however, was from Saskatchewan’s Becky Richter, who broke the 100m and 1500m world record and also broke her Canadian record in discus and club throw.

Track Performances

(T34)Nathan DeWitt hit personal bests in all three events:
100M: 16.74
200M:  31.03
400M: 1:01.79

(T34)Djami Diallo hit personal bests in two events:
100M: 20.67
1500M: 5:02.13

Michelle Stilwell also competed in the 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m.

(T53)Sedrick Skabar competed in his first meet and set personal bests in:
200M: 35.90
800M: 2:20.73

Discus: 5.09m

(F34)Eddy Solla hit personal bests in:
Shot Put: 6.07m
Discus: 16.02m
Javelin: 14.79m (which is also a new Canadian Record in F34 Seated Throws)

(F57)Jessye Brockway also competed but she did not hit any personal bests.
